Information for Participants

Welcome to the 5th Medical and Veterinary Virus Research (MVVR5) Symposium. We hope you enjoy the science and establish meaningful collaborations! Here is some useful information for your help;

Meeting Venue & Access

The MVVR5 will be held on Thursday and Friday, 7th – 8th 2017 at the Boma Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. The venue is located a few minutes from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and about 16 minutes’ drive from Nairobi, Central Business District.


The hotel coordinates airport transfers at around $20 per person or $15 sharing. Alternatively, you can make your own pick up arrangements through a preferred taxi service. Please contact Nancy Wachuka, (


Only sponsored participants are booked at the BOMA INN, a sister hotel adjacent to the main Boma Hotel. Feel free to make alternative accommodation arrangements as suits you.

Reception & Registration

Participants shall register and collect their name badges as they enter the conference hall. Meeting organizers will be on hand to provide support throughout the conference.

Meeting & Session Structure

The two-day meeting is organized into 7 moderated sessions culminating into a panel discussion on One Health – funding, gaps, opportunities for future research, etc. Each session takes up to 10 minutes with, 8 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes, question and answer.

Keynote Presentations

The Programme also features two interesting keynote presentations. Each presentation will take up to 15 minutes with 10 minutes presentation and 5 minutes discussion time.

Visual Presentation of Posters

The meeting has attracted high caliber abstracts to be presented as posters. Viewing of posters will take place during coffee breaks, lunch break and during specifically designated sessions. Posters will remain displayed throughout the day. Participants are encouraged to remain in-situ for their respective presentations.
